Highland alarm at care proposals

Highland Council is to ask for an extension to the Scottish Government’s consultation on its planned National Care Service.

The scope of the proposals put forward at Holyrood last week – billed by social care minister Kevin Stewart as the 'biggest public sector reform for decades’ – caught many by surprise, encompassing not just adult social care but children’s services, justice, health, prisons, alcohol and drug services, and mental health.
