Immigration minister says Government has 'learned the lessons from Windrush'

Minister of state for immigration Caroline Noakes says she has a ‘shared perspective’ with local government on the EU settled status scheme.

She told a plenary session at the Local Government Association conference that it was crucial that EU citizens got the message that they were welcome in the UK. ‘It’s about not just saying you can stay – it’s about saying “we want you to stay”’
