Inspector arrives amid reorganisation pressure

An independent inspector today began investigating Northamptonshire CC’s precarious finances amid fresh signs MPs are pressuring the Government to reorganise the county.

Council sources said they welcomed the Government-commissioned inspection, led by former Hackney LBC chief executive Max Caller, as an opportunity to highlight funding difficulties facing local government, specifically counties grappling with escalating social care costs.
