Javid rejects DCLG capacity fears

Communities secretary Sajid Javid has rejected accusations that his Whitehall department is too stretched to handle devolution bids.

However, Mr Javid admitted to county council leaders at their annual conference yesterday: ‘We should have responded earlier in the case of Solent but the General Election and then Grenfell made decisions slow.
