Smith Square has urged ministers to work closer with councils to ease financial uncertainties households face during the transition to Universal Credit (UC).
Ahead of an opposition day debate in the House of Commons last week, the Local Government Association (LGA) published a briefing warning town halls continued to uncover examples of UC having a ‘short-term adverse effect on the ability of some households to manage their finances’.
