LGPS urged to ditch fossil fuel investments

Trade union Unison has urged local government’s pension scheme to disinvest from fossil fuels despite president Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris climate change agreement.

Unison, which represents members of the giant Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), said it would continue to encourage regional pension funds to withdraw their £14bn of investments in oil, gas and coal companies.
