Let's empower councils

Councils hold the significant statutory duty to ensure there are enough school places in their areas for local children and that safeguarding measures are in place to protect them.

However, many authorities are becoming increasingly concerned that without the power to intervene and work with all academies and free schools, their abilities to fulfil their responsibilities are becoming hampered.
