Mandatory housing targets rejected

An amendment to the levelling up Bill to introduce mandatory housebuilding targets has been rejected by the House of Lords.

Former Conservative housing minister Lord Young tabled the controversial amendment, which would have required local plans to meet or exceed Government targets for new homes.
