NHS can 'save 500,000 more lives'

The NHS claims it can save half a million more lives by investment in technology, focusing on greater prevention and closer partnerships with local government to keep older people out of hospital, according to its long-term plan published today.

Its plan says the NHS will use the latest technology - such as digital GP consultations for all those who want them - coupled with early detection and a renewed focus on prevention to stop an estimated 85,000 premature deaths each year.
