New chief to handle response to damning judgement

Herefordshire Council’s incoming chief executive will personally lead improvement after a judge said there had been ‘longstanding failures’ in the authority’s children’s services.

Paul Walker, a corporate director at Harrow LBC, will take over next week after Mr Justice Keehan called into question whether Herefordshire’s children’s services department was ‘fit for purpose’.
