The financial failure of Northamptonshire CC will happen at other authorities, the head of the sector’s biggest trade union has warned.
Unison general secretary Dave Prentis told the Local Government Association (LGA) conference today that the financial crisis that saw the council twice issue a Section 114 notice and resulted in plans to reorganise the county into two unitaries ‘was the first and is unlikely to be the last’.
