By Martin Ford | 10 May 2024

The budget for replacing an IT system with Oracle has ballooned from £2.6m to almost £40m, councillors in West Sussex have heard.

It comes as Birmingham City Council grapples with a total bill of £120m to correct problems with its troubled Oracle HR and payroll system and Vale of Glamorgan Council reported a £3.7m overspend after attempting to install an Oracle system.

West Sussex's project began in 2020, when a contract was awarded to move its business management IT system - covering HR, pay and a range of other finance functions - to Oracle, with a budget of £2.6m.
