Pandemic hits LGA's graduate programme

The coronavirus pandemic undermined Smith Square’s plan to expand its National Graduate Development Programme (NGDP), councillors have heard.

A report to the latest meeting of the Local Government Association’s (LGA) improvement and innovation board this month revealed officials had been in advanced talks with north-west councils reportedly on the cusp of signing-up to the NGDP – only for the councils’ interest to end when the pandemic struck.
