Safeguarding fears raised over Homes for Ukraine scheme

Senior council officials want greater powers to safeguard Ukrainian refugees amid fears revised national guidance still leaves some people vulnerable.

Julia Sweeney, a director at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), wrote to all council chief executives in England this week to update Whitehall guidance on the Homes for Ukraine scheme – one of two Ukraine-focused programmes operated by the UK.
