Save the panto for Xmas

January is famously the tail-end of pantomime season, where crowds are boosted by discounted tickets preventing a post-Christmas malaise.

But there was no sign of dwindling numbers and lack of public interaction at Leigh-on-Sea Town Council’s recent budget meeting – described by one resident as a ‘pantomime’. Instead, audience participation reached angry new heights when members were accused of failing to answer public questions about local finances and services.
