Sector unites in call for Troubled Families funding

The local government sector has urged the Treasury to continue funding the Troubled Families programme following a glowing report on its impact.

A national evaluation by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government published today found that the programme had reduced the number of children going into care by a third, cut the amount of adults going to prison by a quarter and juvenile convictions by 15%, and resulted in 10% per cent fewer people claiming jobseekers' allowance.
