Square Mile to borrow for the first time in decades

City of London Council could borrow more than £1bn over the next three years through its local government arm and endowment fund.

It will take on debt for the first time in almost 30 years due to a ‘cash crunch’ caused by a number of expensive construction projects, according to the FT.
