Support for independent Telford inquiry grows

Telford & Wrekin Council is poised to approve an independent inquiry into child sexual abuse in the area after the two main political parties backed a fresh proposal.

The Labour-led council’s cabinet will convene an extraordinary meeting tomorrow with a single item of business – a proposal to launch a wide-ranging and independent inquiry into allegations that hundreds of youngsters have been abused by highly-organised gangs and groups over the past 40 years.
