The dogs that didn’t bark

Two dogs failed to bark during last week’s Spring Statement: one was levelling up, the other was the impact of soaring inflation on public spending budgets. Considering the former is the Government’s biggest domestic agenda, while the latter is now under considerable inflationary pressure, both topics might have merited closer attention.

In its analysis the Institute for Government commented that the Spring Statement ‘ignored the Levelling Up agenda’, calling it ‘an omission’.
