Thurrock fails in bid to suspend chief

Debt-ridden Thurrock BC failed in its bid to suspend chief executive Lyn Carpenter at a private meeting last night, despite a co-ordinated political move, The MJ understands.

Senior sources familiar with events at the Essex unitary said that Ms Carpenter and the Conservative-led council instead agreed she will take two weeks’ leave while talks about her future continue.
