Tory ID check plan could 'put people off voting'

Plans in the Conservative manifesto to introduce voter identification across the UK are ‘overbearing and counterproductive,’ electoral campaigners have argued.

The manifesto pledged to legislate to ensure that a ‘form of identification must be presented before voting’ as part of a wider crackdown on electoral fraud.
