UC rollout: pause needed

Councils have called for a ‘longer pause’ in the rollout of Universal Credit amid the emergence of problems with the fundamental design of the programme.

Local authorities have been consistently raising concerns about the impact of Universal Credit with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) at all levels.
