Aberdeen City Council is planning to bail out the city's conference centre, despite its own financial difficulties. The local authority, which is struggling to find £50m in budget cuts this year, is now expected to find an extra £2m for the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. A confidential report has allegedly recommended the council should approve the loan, as ‘no action is not an option'. And the report is said to have advised members the centre generates a ‘considerable spin-off economic benefit' locally, believed to be about £200m over the next five years. The council's resources management committee was due to meet today. A council spokeswoman said: ‘We won't be commenting before it goes before members.'
