Aberdeen City Council has been told to shape up fast or face the consequences, after a damning report from Scotland's public sector watchdog. The Accounts Commission said the authority ‘lacks a full appreciation of the seriousness of its current circumstances… and action needs to be taken to recruit a new, experienced chief executive.' Scotland's finance secretary, John Swinney, warned Aberdeen it must accept the findings and develop an improvement plan ‘as a matter of urgency'.
