Construction firm Balfour Beatty has been awarded two education contracts worth a total of £134m. The group has been awarded a £77m deal to build student accommodation at the University of Exeter, in partnership with the University Partnerships Programme (UPP). This is the third project the firm has carried out with UPP, and is due for completion by 2012. Lincolnshire CC has also hired the company for three design and build contracts worth £57m, which are scheduled to be completed by 2010. Balfour Beatty chief executive, Ian Tyler, said: ‘We are delighted to have been selected to build new accommodation for students in Exeter and provide state-of-the-art academies in Lincolnshire, adding to our extensive work in the education sector.'
