Oscar-nominated actress, Samantha Morton, joined trade union members to protest against staff cuts by Nottingham City Council.
The authority needs to save £14m to meet a budget shortfall, but the Hollywood star, who was brought up in a Nottingham care home, called for a change of heart.
She said: ‘Living in a children's home was a positive experience for me. I beg the council to reconsider cutting these vital services to children in care who are already, as we know, among the most vulnerable members of society.'
