The crisis in social care requires a tough, uncompromising response. Fully ‘badass' if you'll forgive the turn of phrase. Which is why it has not gone unnoticed that the voice of the adult social services sector – the Association of Directors of Social Services or ADASS – is, literally, very nearly badass. The recent uncompromising stance of adult care directors helped to secure extra funds from Government. But ADASS may need to be more badass as the battle to fund care continues. Simon Bottery, senior fellow of social care at The King's Fund think-tank, certainly believes this is the case, tweeting as much just last week. He may even have stumbled upon a revenue-raising ploy for the sector – observing that ADASS rhymes with badass in such a way that the association could be easily referenced in a hip-hop track.
