A former transport minister has hailed plans to create a combined authority in the North East to spearhead economic growth as a 'path-breaking initiative'.
Speaking to The MJ, Lord Adonis said there is 'not a moment to lose' in setting up the combined authority, which will put the region 'on a par with Greater Manchester'.
