Adur DC could change to a cabinet system as part of plans to merge all its departments with Worthing BC.The two West Sussex councils have drawn up a business case, which is now being examined by staff and consultant Capita. The MJ exclusively revealed in September that the local authorities were considering joining up all their services. Councillors from both councils will vote on the business case next month. Adur DC currently has a small committee structure, and the move would bring it in line with Worthing BC, which has a cabinet system. ‘All we are doing at present is considering the high level work we have done so far on this project,' said Adur DC chief executive and Worthing BC interim boss, Ian Lowrie. ‘We need to be sure that this proposal will serve the customers of the two councils and reduce overheads before taking any major decisions.'
