Focused investment in affordable housing is key to stimulating economic recovery and rescuing a housing sector set on an increasingly downward trend, according to the National Housing Federation (NHF).
Rises in private rental sector costs, increased social housing waiting lists, price booms and a 'chronic under-supply' of new homes that have seen 105,000 built in England in 2011, threaten to plunge the market into an 'unprecedented crisis', the body claims.
