'Agile' approach to stop Whitehall computer failures

The Cabinet Office has confirmed its intention to establish a framework contract for procuring 'agile' government IT services.

The Cabinet Office has confirmed its intention to establish a framework contract for procuring ‘agile' government IT services, seen as helping prevent costly Whitehall computer failures.

Led by the Efficiency and Reform Group, the ‘agile IT' initiative attempts to improve public technology in part through greater user engagement. Sir Ian Magee, senior fellow at the Institute for Government, and author of System error, a report into fixing flaws in large-scale IT schemes, said he was pleased to see the Government had kept up the pressure.
