Leeds Bradford International Airport has been sold to private equity firm, Bridgepoint, in a deal worth £145.5m. The airport is owned by all five West Yorkshire councils, which have all welcomed the sale as a major step forward in its development. ‘Work can now begin on taking our airport up a league in every sense,' said airport chairman, Sir Graham Hall. A Leeds City Council spokesman said no decision had been made about how the local authorities would spend the windfall.
