South Tyneside MBC has pioneered a mobile phone application which helps young deaf people communicate with the outside world.
Containing more than 750 video clips of commonly-used words from the Dictionary Of British Sign Language, the ‘Sign it' service was devised by the authority's hearing impaired services, which provides support for youngsters up to the age of 19 across the borough.
