Clear allocation details are essential for councils to understand the waste funding system

After the national mandate set out in the Environment Act 2021, weekly separate food waste collections for households in England are finally scheduled for April 2026 – a major step towards sustainability and waste reduction.

While the Government considers funding resolved, councils still face uncertainty.
