Rutland Council could become the first local authority to sue for defamation, following a series of controversial e-mails sent by a group of its own members.

The unitary authority has taken legal advice from lawyer Bevan Brittan, following allegations made by three independent councillors who formed the Rutland Anti-Corruption Group (RACP).
