Somerset CC chief executive, Alan Jones, has apologised after becoming embroiled in a row with a local MP over the Holocaust. Mr Jones was criticised after he wrote in a staff newsletter about the council's ‘excellent' CPA rating, and said that doubting it was like claiming the Holocaust never happened. Mr Jones has since had support from Somerset's Black and Minority Ethnic Employee Network ‘The point I made in my article is that some people seek to portray the county council in a bad light by distorting the facts,' said Mr Jones. ‘In making the point, I was not equating criticism of Somerset CC to denial of the Holocaust, or in any way trivialising the horror of that awful event.'
