Apprentice praise

Iain Duncan Smith, has praised Kent CC for its efforts to encourage businesses to increase the number of apprentices hired.

Welfare and pensions secretary, Iain Duncan Smith, has praised Kent CC for its efforts to encourage businesses to double the number of apprentices hired from 5,000 to 10,000 as ‘an excellent innovation'.

Entitled ‘Kent jobs for Kent young people', the authority has invested £2m in the scheme which pays local firms up to £4,275 to give unemployed young people the chance to gain experience and earn a small weekly salary.
