Ashford BC staff are being encouraged to get on their bikes under a new tax-free cycle loan scheme launched this week. The council is offering to buy bicycles and safety accessories for employees up to a maximum value of £1,000 to promote healthy and sustainable travel. Staff members then buy the bikes back in agreed instalments. The VAT, income tax and NI contribution savings could save up to 50% of the overall cost.
