This is an exciting opportunity for a senior experienced public health professional to work in a large unitary local authority with a history of joint working between key partners to promote and protect health. This is a new, permanent, full-time post based at County Hall, Morpeth, Northumberland.

You will be responsible for managing the Public Health Service, working as part of a small team to support the Council in ensuring all opportunities are maximised to improve the health of the community. You will deputise for the Director of Public Health and Protection across the whole range of the authority's public health responsibilities. You will lead public health input to the JSNA, the commissioning of services and delivery of the 'core offer' to the Northumberland CCG.

You must be included on the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List or UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) and should also have significant managerial experience at strategic level within a complex public sector environment.

A high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness, negotiation and motivation skills and flexibility are required.

Prospective candidates are invited to contact Professor Sue Milner, Director of Public Health and Protection on 01670 623690 to discuss the post.

The job pack is available at the Northumberland Portal.

Closing date: Friday, 19 July 2013.

Interview date: Monday, 12 August 2013.
