WORKFORCE

Associate Director Public Health and Public Protection

In Wiltshire, our position is a simple one. People and communities are at the centre of our model for Adult Social Care and Public Health / Public Protection.

In Wiltshire, our position is a simple one. People and communities are at the centre of our model for Adult Social Care and Public Health / Public Protection. Formed just over four years ago, the Council is achieving what it set out to do; delivering efficiencies whilst working locally with communities.

Like other local authorities we have had to prioritise and focus on how we can do things differently. Although still relatively new, we are identifying where we can do things better so we can continually improve. This challenging transformational agenda is being addressed nowhere more so than across Adult Social Care and Public Health as we re-combine and augment our approach through closer alignment and integration. Can you help us achieve this?

For this role we are looking for a public health professional who will lead, manage and develop a range of public health and protection services including public health (health improvement & protection, clinical quality & effectiveness and occupational health & safety) and public protection, (food and health & safety, consumer protection and animal health, environment protection and control and community protection). We will expect you to have extensive knowledge of the broadpublic health agenda and what skill set each professional element brings to the whole. You will also need a clear understanding of the impact this new co-ordinated service can have in delivering local priorities and objectives. To apply for this role you will need to be qualified as a public health specialist and on the GMC, GDC or UKPHR specialist register.
