Atkins Development and Regeneration led Transport Planning workstream in the Midlands is undergoing an exciting period of growth and diversification in our client base. This post provides an exciting opportunity for a respected individual in the development planning industry to lead this team’s growth by providing technical transportation advice and support to private and public sector developer clients.

As a Director, you will be responsible for winning private and public sector development led transport projects, through relationship building and bidding. You will provide technical leadership and project direction in strong multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery to our Clients’ requirements, whilst ensuring commercial success to Atkins.

Requirements
Essential

  • Extensive experience in securing and delivering development planning projects in a consultancy environment.
  • Strong working relationships with private sector developers, development partners, architects and local authorities, including a thorough understanding of the key drivers, challenges and funding streams for land development and regeneration.
  • Technical excellence in all aspects of Development Planning work including Transport Assessments, junction modelling and design, masterplanning and Inquiry.
  • Proven excellence in working in multi-disciplinary teams, coupled with proven commercial awareness.
  • Appropriate academic and professional qualifications (Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or planning discipline, for example, civils/ traffic engineering, urban planning, transport planning).
  • Fully conversant with commercial aspects of tendering and project management.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills able to provide direction and create and grow a high performing team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and leadership to further strengthen and grow the development and regeneration led transport planning business based in the Midlands, through work winning with private and public sector developers and partners.
  • Demonstrate technical excellence in the delivery of all aspects of development-led transport planning, working with established regional and national teams.
  • Further strengthen Atkins’ market profile in the Midlands’ development and regeneration led Consultancy markets.

  • An enthusiasm, commitment and strong ability to diversify and grow the developer facing transport planning market in the Midlands.
  • Strengths in developing effective and enduring relationships with internal clients and external developers, agents and architects.
  • Proven client relationship building, work winning and tendering success.
  • Strong commercial project delivery.
  • Technical leader in all aspects of development-led transport planning.
  • Strong communication and engagement skills and proven leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams.
