The Association of Retained Council Housing (ARCH) and the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) have offered their support for the dismantling of the housing finance system. The associations aired their views at a consultation event with 75 local authority decision-makers on the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) last week. ARCH will deliver a formal response to the government consultation, once members views have been collated. APSE is encouraging local authorities to work together to develop on a new housing finance formula. APSE chief executive, Paul O'Brien, said: ‘We are pleased to see the beginning of the end of HRA – and housing minister John Healey's commitment to reforming the system.'
