Attracting and retaining talent in local government has never been more important or more challenging.

Councils across the country are working hard to fill vital roles at every level, from housing and social care to planning, finance and digital transformation. Yet, for too many people, the idea of working in local government still feels distant or misunderstood. In the West Midlands alone, there are more than 1,000 public sector vacancies currently being advertised through the regional jobs board WMJobs – a reminder of both the breadth of opportunity and the scale of the challenge.
