E-auctions can dramatically reduce the cost of council goods and services, figures compiled by the Regional Centres of Excellence have revealed. The nine e-auctions for contracts to run local authority services and the purchasing of goods held in 2005/2006 generated savings of £12,886,000 from an outlay of £137,000 to set up and run, a gain of £94 on every £1 spent.
