Council websites are better than those for the FTSE 100 firms in many key aspects, according to an IT testing company. SiteMorse, which tests and monitors websites, collected data last month comparing performance of private and public sector websites in five key areas, including download speed and accessibility, and found public sector sites performed better across the board. Nicholas Le Seelleur, from SiteMorse, said: ‘The results overturn the generally-accepted notion that IT quality in the private sector is far superior to that in the public arena.'
