Local authorities in the capital are facing a funding shortfall of more than £1bn to provide permanent school places, according to the latest research by London Councils.

A report published on 23 April warns that London has only been allocated 36% of the available Department for Education funding until 2015, despite increasing demand for primary and secondary school places.
