Avoiding SEND collapse

A new report makes it clear that if the Government does not take decisive action to reform SEND, the entire system faces total collapse by the end of this Parliament, says Cllr Bill Revans.

As long ago as 2014, the then children's minister Edward Timpson said: ‘For too long, families have found themselves battling against a complex and fragmented system.'

Considering it was made as the Children and Families Act passed into law that year with the clear aim of improving England's special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) system, it is unnerving that it could easily describe the situation a decade on.
