Shelter has called on the Government to scrap the council tax discount for second homes.

The homeless charity published a report last week, entitled Taking stock, which said that abolishing the discount for the 252,000 second homes throughout the country could raise up to £42m in lost revenue, which could help local authorities improve existing housing stocks.
