Former basket case Hull City Council is officially back on track, according to the Audit Commission. The latest corporate assessment found the council had developed a new vision for the city and had put in place plans to achieve the vision. However, it is too early to tell if the council's plans will solve the problems facing the city. Leader of the council, Carl Minns, said: ‘The reports clearly show Hull is making good progress, but we all know there is room for improvement.' He urged the Government to take the council off special measures. For stories on the history of Hull, see www.localgov.co.uk
