Balancing need with investment

Angela Holden previews the findings of a new report from the Regulator of Social Housing and sets out the key lessons for both housing associations and councils drawn from a year of landlord case studies.

The Social Housing Regulation Act, which came into force last year, has fundamentally changed how we regulate and hold landlords to account.

Councils, alongside other social landlords, must meet our new consumer standards, making sure tenants' voices are heard and that they are safe in their homes. Landlords must respond promptly to complaints and act swiftly to put things right, treating tenants fairly and with respect.
